Tier I Planning

I use a unique informal pre - planning strategy to help teachers identify the content gaps, prior knowledge, skills, concepts and misconceptions of their students.  Then we develop formal lesson plans that include clear learning intentions and success criteria with targeted strategies to meet the identified needs.

Tier I Instruction

Benefit from personalized coaching and support to refine your mathematics instruction and to explore pedagogical and content strategies designed to improve your student's conceptual and procedural understanding and their performance outcomes.

Tier 1 Assessment

Your assessment sets the expectation for the  level of thinking and reasoning required from your students.  Teachers create, evaluate and analyze assessments to ensure they align to the expectations of their content standards and Mathematical Process Standards.

Years of Impact

What does it mean to be "Teacher Driven. Student Focused."?  My professional development is not one size fits all.  I design support that is driven by the everyday, realistic needs of teachers and focused on balancing the challenges of our students with the expectations of the standards.

Focus Areas

Elementary Mathematics

I specialize in providing support and resources for elementary math educators that foster a strong conceptual and procedural understanding of mathematics for both the teachers and the students.

Middle School Mathematics

My expertise extends to middle school mathematics education, where I assist educators in creating engaging and effective learning experiences that build on those conceptual and procedural foundations from elementary mathematics.

High School Mathematics

My unique experiences as a K–12 consultant, SC Department of Education Mathematics specialist and former high school mathematics teacher enable me to provide comprehensive support to address a wide range of gaps in high school student's understanding while strengthening the teacher's understanding of the vertical alignment of mathematical concepts and skills.

My Approach

My roles as an independent consultant, Mathematics Specialist for  the State Department of Education and classroom teacher in the Lowcountry and the Upstate of South Carolina have blessed me with the unique opportunity to work with students and teachers from diverse economic and social backgrounds.

As a consultant, I focus on the "whole" teacher by building relationships in addition to addressing professional needs. I create a safe, risk free environment that supports teachers as they begin to internalize their new learning through individual and group reflection. These opportunities to engage in reflective dialogue in a supportive and caring environment encourage teachers to take ownership of their own professional learning and the learning of their students.

Melissa Tollison, Assistant Principal at Powdersville Elementary,

Anderson One School District

“Since using Mrs. Robinson's consultative services, we have seen improved test scores in the area of mathematics across 3rd – 5th grades.  Our 4th grade team improves from 61.3% of students meeting or exceeding in 2017 to 83.9% in 2018.  They attribute their success to working closely to develop rigorous assessments alongside Ms. Goff and using their understanding of the process standards to develop precise questions.  They are able design lessons plans that are standards – based and reinforce mathematical concepts in all strands.  Her knowledge and expertise are an invaluable resource.”

“Sandra Robinson worked with my teachers in 3rd – 6th grade.  She helped them unwrap the SC State Standards, plan for student mastery, organize a sequence and timeline for instructional delivery of the standards and develop assessments for each unit.  I attribute our growth and success story to Ms. Robinson’s expert ability to motivate and support teachers in understanding how to teach concepts and procedures.  As a result, 48% of students in grades 3-6 scored Meets or Exceeds on SCREADY 2018 compared to 33% in 2017. By grade level, our meets and exceeds category improved in 3rd grade from 20% to 50%, in 4th grade from 24% to 33%, in 5th grade from 33% to 44% and in 5th grade from 48% to 54%.”

“We are so happy with our EOC scores!  We made great gains from last year.  We had an 80% pass rate with about 63% of our students scoring a C or higher!!!!  We cannot thank you enough for driving to Palmetto to help the two of us with our assessments and instruction!  You helped us with our pacing and beefing up our assessments with challenging EOC type questions!”

Sandra was exceptional, as always!

Great session! Fabulous session! First time in a long time that I didn’t check my watch for time during a presentation. I never noticed the time.

The session was great! I appreciate how hands-on examples were given for different grade levels to show how they can be used.

Amazing session. I took away several “ahas” from this PD, and I look forward to using it in my classroom.

This was the most useful PD I have been to in a long time.

This session was phenomenal. It was informative, challenged me as an educator, and makes me excited to what is to change in my classroom for the better.

Sandra was great at connecting the Mathematical Process Standards to all levels of math instruction.  Tier 1 instruction was well explained.
